We all know that cable ties are a highly versatile product. But I must say that even I was surprised to discover the spectacular cable tie creations of Andi Regan. Utilizing cable ties in ways that most of us have probably never even dreamt of, Regan has created an extraordinary array of fine art pieces, decorative accessories, and even wearable clothing! Yes, clothing.

Regan, a 38 year old artist from Wanaka, New Zealand, attributes her unexpected affinity for cable ties to a personal love of ”spikey sunflower clocks and spiny sea creatures.” She bought her first package of cable ties about two years ago in an attempt to simply “make something spikey.” And now she considers herself to be obsessed.

“I’ve not got bored with them yet,” Regan said in a recent interview with the Otago Daily Times. “It’s like knitting. I can do it on the couch without looking. It’s really relaxing. And they are really handy to have around. My husband is always asking for them.”

Each of Regan’s remarkable cable tie creations utilizes a minimum of 1,000 ties, many of which she hand-dyes to achieve very specific colors. Her most ambitious works, like the stunning dress shown below, can take more than five months to complete, using 20,000 cable ties or more.

See something you like? You’re in luck! Many of Regan’s incredible works are available for sale!
