Spades
According to
https://dictionary.reference.com spade is defined as a tool for digging, having an iron blade adapted for pressing into the ground with the foot and a long handle commonly with a grip or crosspiece at the top, and with the blade usually narrower and flatter than that of a shovel.
Spades is also a card game that I have spent many a night playing with my family on the computer since we are spread around the country.
For electricians, spades or sometimes called forks, are actually a connector that is used to connect wiring to a screw type structure to provide electricity or to provide a connection for some type of cable to an old style TV set. I remember when I was a kid and cable finally came to our home, spade connectors were used to connect the cable box to our TV. When we got our first Atari game, we had a special connector at the end that used two spade connectors to connect the item to the back of the TV where the antenna would connect. Today, spades are not used for those two things unless you still have an old TV set, but they are still used often in electrical connections.
Nelco Products carries several different types of spades:
Each type of spade comes in a variety of sizes based on the AWG. Lastly, they come in a variety of finishes as well from non-insulated to heat shrink. So, as you can see, we do carry a lot of different spades in our warehouses. Too bad they can’t play cards.
Good wiring to you.
